Travel Experiences

February again & this time it was time to explore Czech Republic a country in Central Europe.

Prague is where I arrived & made a base for few days. Wintertime it was, a little less crowded but carnival time – Mardi Gras is what they celebrate. Its old town was magical, loved to be near the Astronomical Clock – oldest clock in the world still operating. Always had an ice cream along may it be lemon or black current which actually gave a current to my taste buds 😊. Its known for its clubs & night life so I could not miss the Prague Pub Crawl…enjoyed meeting people from many countries and experiencing a thrilling evening which went on till morning. Loved a walk around Wenceslas Square, the Charles Bridge over Vltava River, Mala Strana and the Castle District. Now came a visit to Petrin tower a miniature version of the Eiffel Tower I call it. A funicular took me up the Petrin Hill from where I could get the best views of Prague. Beauty of the red roofs 😊.

Now time was to explore a little bit beyond Prague so chose to visit the Spa Town – Karlovy Vary, also known for its thermal springs. A lovely town where I could experience a visit to the Moser Glass Factory with its glassblowing demonstrations. Came across artists by its riverside where they sold their best art works, I certainly could not resist buying one.

Karlstejn Castle a Gothic Castle of the 14th century. After a few hours’ bus ride, I was surprised to know that I had to go up to the castle by horse drawn carriage & I loved it. After a brief historical walk opted to walk down to the base, shopping a little from the local shops. A little hungry so chose to try a local delicacy, came across a small outlet and grabbed a Tredlnik – a famous dessert of this country. Tasty as it was promised, a must try.

This Country is known for its Beer around the World – Pilsner the most well known. There are more places to explore in the country like Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora, Pilsen & more. Anyone in a party mood must visit this country.
